Early Life and Education

Brandon Jennings was born in California to parents Bryan Jennings and Alice Cox. He attended Dominguez High School in his hometown of Compton before transferring to Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, which boasts one of the top basketball programs in the United States and has produced notable players such as Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo, Stephen Jackson, and Michael Beasley.

High School Career and Accolades

Jennings demonstrated exceptional skill at the high school level and was considered one of the top young basketball prospects in the country. During the season, he led his team to a record. As a senior, he averaged points, assists, and rebounds per game, setting the school's single-season scoring record. He garnered numerous accolades, including the Naismith Award for National High School Player of the Year, and ESPN analysts ranked him first on their list of the nation's top basketball recruits.

College Decision and European Stint

In April , a year before graduating high school, Jennings committed to play at the University of Arizona alongside Jerryd Bayless. However, in June , he failed the university's entrance exam after several attempts. Unable to play professionally in the NBA yet due to the league's eligibility rules, Jennings opted to spend a season playing professionally in Europe to gain experience and earn money before returning to the US to pursue his NBA dream.

On July 16, , Jennings signed a three-year contract with Italian club Virtus Roma.
